Malta

Malta

Experience a paradise in the heart of the Mediterranean. Discover the Maltese islands between Sicily and Africa. After only a 2.5 hour flight you can reach your diving paradise on the doorstep of all major European airports.

The Maltese archipelago includes the islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino. They have a total area of around 300 km², with Malta being the largest in the group at 37 km long and 15 km wide.

The Maltese like to call their home the centre of the world, after all it is in the middle of the Mediterranean sea! Take a world map and see for yourself. You will be welcomed with Mediterranean warmth, breath-taking landscapes, millennia-old history, excellent Mediterranean cuisine and a vibrant nightlife.

The main island of Malta with its baroque capital city of Valletta offers the best cultural attractions. Other highlights include the medieval city of Mdina, megalithic temple complexes, natural limestone harbour tours, museums and enough churches for every day of the year. The smaller sister island of Gozo is often referred to as the “granary” of the archipelago, as it supports most of the farming industry. With its medieval capital Victoria, it is a popular destination to escape the hustle and bustle and experience life in slow motion. The third of the inhabited islands is Comino and it is extremely unique in that it has just four permanent residents, where here you will find a chapel, a police station, a hotel and the famous Blue Lagoon.

In any case, Malta is one of the best diving destinations in the world.

Sightseeing

The Maltese archipelago is a sight in itself.
Although small, Malta sits enthroned by the infinitely deep blue sea, shaped by ochre colours that shine in the sun. Too good to be true? Far from it … The underwater world surrounding Malta, Gozo and Comino is one of the best in the world and therefore a huge attraction for divers.

On days when scuba diving is not on the agenda and you’d rather remain dry, the island offers something for every member of the family. The rocky scenery with all its hidden gems and local wildlife invites you to go hiking or walking on a crisp clear day of blue skies.

Despite the relatively high population density you can still find many places where you will feel completely alone and at peace, like for example on the breath-taking cliffs of Dingli.

When spring and autumn hit and the island is green and blooming, why not find a shady spot in Buskett Gardens, where the luscious trees and gentle walkways will make the perfect spot for a picnic with your loved ones. When summer hits, talk to enough locals and you’ll be surprised to find numerous hidden and tiny beaches that just invite you to laze around all day. Or why not take a ferry trip to Gozo and take a look at the capital city of Victoria?

Then there is the capital city of Valletta, not without reason a World Heritage Site. It is always worth taking a tour of the limestone cut harbour and taking a look at the many “super yachts” docked there surrounded by tall bastions. Or even visiting the Mosta Cathedral, with its huge dome or the “silent city” of Mdina with its medieval past and spectacular views of the entire island. The possibilities are endless!

For the younger and young at heart among you, the town of Paceville with its entertainment street full of pubs, casinos and many restaurants invites you to spend an exciting evening there with your friends. And of course there are a variety of boutiques and souvenir shops with Maltese specialties that you can take home with you to remember your amazing holiday.

Enjoy your holiday with the whole family, there is something for everyone to discover.

So, dear divers, we wish you lots of fun with us – above and below water!
